Art Basel | February 13, 2025 – Art Basel is set to return with a dynamic program featuring 291 premier galleries from 42 countries and territories this June. As the art world converges on Basel, the 2025 edition promises a groundbreaking showcase of contemporary and historical masterpieces across all media, reinforcing its status as the pinnacle of the global art market.
Key Highlights:
- Global Reach & Premier Exhibitors: 291 leading galleries, including 18 first-time participants from Europe, Asia, and the Americas, will present works spanning painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, and more.
- Introducing the Premiere Sector: This newly launched sector provides an exclusive platform for galleries to showcase bold and cutting-edge works from the past five years, featuring up to three exceptional artists.
- Katharina Grosse’s Monumental Installation: Renowned for her vibrant, large-scale interventions, Grosse will transform Messeplatz and its surroundings into a striking chromatic landscape, curated by Natalia Grabowska, Curator at Large, Architecture and Site-Specific Projects at the Serpentine Gallery, London.
- Parcours Expands Its Reach: Curated by Stefanie Hessler, Director of New York’s Swiss Institute (SI), Parcours will feature a thoughtfully curated selection of public art along Clarastrasse toward the Rhine, incorporating the Merian and offering an immersive cultural experience.
- Citywide Cultural Engagement: Basel’s leading institutions will complement the fair with a rich lineup of events and exhibitions, reinforcing the city’s role as a global cultural hub.
- Fair Dates: Art Basel 2025 takes place at Messe Basel from June 19–22, with exclusive Preview Days on June 17–18.

- Parcours: The 2025 edition, curated by Stefanie Hessler, will center around the theme Second Nature, exploring the interplay between life and lifelikeness through site-specific works along Clarastrasse and the Rhine.
- Messeplatz Installation: Katharina Grosse’s large-scale chromatic intervention will immerse visitors in an experiential, color-rich landscape as they arrive at the fair.
- Unlimited: Curated by Giovanni Carmine, this signature sector will present around 70 monumental works across diverse media, offering an unparalleled platform for ambitious artistic projects.
- Kabinett: Now in its third edition, this sector allows galleries to present specially curated installations within their booths, deepening engagement with key artists and themes.

The Galleries Sector: A Museum-Quality Experience
The main Galleries sector will feature 239 of the world’s most renowned exhibitors, presenting high-caliber works that span movements and generations. Notable galleries transitioning from Feature or Statements into the main sector include:
- Beijing Commune (Beijing): Presenting a multigenerational showcase, featuring Zhang Xiaogang, Wang Luyan, Ma Qiusha, and Chang Yuchen.
- Emalin (London): Highlighting works by Nikita Gale, Megan Plunkett, Kate Spencer Stewart, and Sung Tieu, exploring the intersection of built environments and spatial neutrality.
- hunt kastner (Prague): Featuring visionary artists Olga Karlíková, Eva Koťátková, Basim Magdy, and Anna Hulačová, whose works investigate the interplay between humanity and the natural world.
- Galerie Le Minotaure (Paris): A deep dive into early 20th-century geometric abstraction, with works by Jean Arp, Fernand Léger, and László Moholy-Nagy.
